Commercial product collaboration
A retail wall mirror concept developed through SCADpro × At Home, connecting industrial design education with commercial product development.
Proof of applied practice
The project is included here as a commercial proof point within the Built by Zhen archive. It shows work moving beyond concept-only presentation into a partner-facing, market-facing product context.
My contribution centered on the mirror’s design direction, 3D CAD development, engineering translation, and rapid model iteration within the SCADpro team. The work required turning a distinctive perimeter concept into a clear product proposal that could be reviewed, presented, and carried into a commercial retail context.
Developed and refined the irregular mirror form and its visual character.
Produced and iterated the 3D models used to communicate the product direction.
Moved model development forward quickly within an intensive collaborative studio.

“His experience and expertise in CAD blew me away … being able to turn over 3D models far ahead of schedule.”
The mirror was developed within the At Home × SCADpro collaboration and later appeared as an official At Home product listing. My work focused on the design and CAD development of the object, while the broader collaboration connected product design, presentation, and retail communication around a decorative home object.
For Built by Zhen, the case study matters because it demonstrates experience with client-facing development, visual refinement, object detailing, and the translation of design intent into a commercial product page.
Design translation
The object uses an irregular wooden frame, faceted perimeter rhythm, and gold accent lines to create a decorative mirror that feels expressive without relying on a conventional circular or rectangular outline.
Its retail context required the product to communicate quickly: clearly a mirror, distinctive as a wall accent, and compatible with domestic interiors.
